The new service is being marketed under the name “Lightnet235” and it provides broadband subscribers in Galway with a very competitively priced broadband service. It uses the very latest fixed wireless access technology and has an entry level price of just €20 per month.

Keeping the streets clean

Imagine Communications Group has announced the launch of its high-speed WiMax broadband and phone network in Athlone. The new fourth generation wireless technology provides superfast Internet and phone access at home and on the move for half the cost charged by current providers.

Communications Minister Eamon Ryan has been advised by the Fine Gael spokesperson on community, rural, and Gaeltacht affairs, Deputy Michael Ring of the absence of a broadband service in certain areas of Mayo. He raised the matter by way of a Dáil question as to what steps the Minister is taking to provide high-speed broadband services.

Broadband connectivity is currently being rolled out in Kilkenny as a result of the National Broadband Scheme (NBS).
